Transport Practitioners Meeting 2023

Presentation on evaluating electric mobility policies using a pluralist perspective on social justice given to UK policymakers

The TSU's Dr Hannah Budnitz, presented at the Transport Practitioners' Meeting, an annual professional conference mainly attended by policymakers and consultants working in transport planning and engineering in the UK. Using the Bristol case study from ITEM, she explained how jointly considering multiple major electric mobility policies, can help practitioners gain a better understanding of how different policies and policy processes involve different groups, meet different needs and affect experiences of mobility in different ways. She also described how diverse electric mobility policies can be evaluated using a pluralist perspective of social justice, with implications for an environmentally and socially sustainable transition. The conference, held this year at the University of Greenwich, was well-attended, with lively discussions not only during the keynotes and parallel sessions, but also during the conference dinner. A short paper was prepared for the conference and will be part of the resources available to all who attended, alongside copies of the presentation.
